Alexis François Dominique Borella was born in 1932 and served in the French army from 1950 – 1956. He fought in Indochina in the early 1950s where he earned the Médaille Militaire, roughly equivalent to the American Silver Star. He later served in Algeria as a Captain with the 2nd Foreign Parachute Regiment.
