I'm coming to you LIVE from the Davidson County Election Commission meeting. There's a pretty full house of folks supporting Rep. Justin Jones in his effort to remain on the ballot. I've been to quite a few of these meetings, and I've never seen one this packed.

First on the agenda is public comment.

Ms. Savage-Short is up first. She's asking God to "cease and desist" any "demonic" actions. This is...interesting.

Our first actionable item on the agenda is the election of a member to the Bicycle & Pedestrian Advisory Commission. @cwr001 is up for the spot (nominated by @emilyfor7), as is John Norris (nominated by @AllenBurkley).

Joseph Webb, Nashville General CEO, and other NGH administrators will be fielding questions about the plans to relocate NGH & build a new facility.

Councilmember @johnlrutherford is proposing an amendment to the Metro Charter to lower the minimum age to run for #MetroCouncilNash.

Currently, you have to be 25 to run for the council. Rutherford's proposal would lower that to 18. Trent Benj, the youngest member of the TN Democratic Party's Executive Committee, is speaking in support of the proposal at today's special called charter revision committee meeting.

"It's very important that, as a city, we don't miss out on young talent," says Benj.

Waiting on the Metro Arts Commission Oversight Committee meeting to begin. On the agenda today: The meeting has begun. Nobody is present for public comment.

Chair Beverly Watts is starting with a review of her discussions with Finance.

Apparently, the committee has another memo from Finance Director Crumbo.

@yousiefly was going to make a public comment, but the board chair announced that public comment can only be on items NOT related to a lobbyist or ethics complaint.

Is that legal, under state law? I wasn't aware they could limit public comment to certain items. cc @jrhollin

Tuning in to this evening's #MetroCouncilNash meeting virtually this evening, due to aforementioned issues re: health insurance companies, pain, and burned chicken. According to Vice Mayor @angienashville, "a full quarter" of the Metro Council has a March birthday.

I have not independently verified this claim.

Full house growing fuller at this afternoon’s @1City4AllPeople meeting, where the Metro Human Relations Commission will consider the report regarding Title VI complaints against the Arts Commission. I’ll be tweeting. Several councilmembers are present, along with several Arts Commissioners.

Watching the first Metro Arts Commission Oversight Committee meeting. Vice Mayor @angienashville speaking about the Nazis marching on the square over the weekend. She's urging colleagues to allow @JacobKupin4D19 to suspend the rules for a late-filed resolution. "White supremacy and rising fascism are both a local and national emergency."

🧵We've got a #MetroCouncilNash meeting tonight. No committee meetings last night, due to the holiday, so committees will be pressed for time today. Here's the legislation I'm keeping an eye on tonight... 1. RS2024-194, the capital spending plan (CSP). Mayor @freddieoconnell is proposing ~$514M of investments. There's no legal limit on the number of capital spending plans a mayor could bring, and no requirement for when they have to be filed, but it's usually once a year.

Hopefully we get this #MetroCouncilNash show on the road with some haste. We’re already late & I’m already cranky. Strap in & enjoy the ride, friends! We haven't even gotten to announcements & presentations. There was a celebration of the 15-year anniversary of the city voting down the English Only charter referendum. Important thing to memorialize, but it took quite a while to do it. Nine speakers??

Now on to the #MetroCouncilNash East Bank Committee meeting. Chief Development Officer Bob Mendes is offering an update on the status of negotiations regarding development of the initial development area. Most of the area between where the new stadium WILL be (pictured below) and the riverfront is taken up by the footprint of the current stadium & parking.

Easing back into the swing of things by attending tonight’s East Bank Stadium Committee meeting live and in person. No matter how many times I come to Hermitage, my brain refuses to acknowledge that it is not up north. Got a good turnout tonight, the lobbyist is making the rounds with the CMs who are in attendance (which are few in number — currently I only see @mendesbob, @Erinfor12, @Bradford4D13, @larryhagar, and @brettawithers.)
