I understand the alarming nature of this violence but I disagree with the analysis. The GOP has not built a "combat party" in the Leninist or fascist sense of the idea in terms of its organization or strategy, nor has it yet developed an effective paramilitary function.
Paramilitary and violent activity associated with the GOP still consist primarily of relatively spontaneous, disorganized violence & vigilantism and what the historical NS/fascists would have described as "bourgeois" formations constrained by idea & org from revolutionary action.

Pretty funny to call for a "glasnost" when you're the one assailing opponents of the government hardliner that wanted to call in the army to crush a popular protest
Of course, Chait rejects this characterization by showing he hasn't read Cotton's op-ed (which did not "explicitly" call for the National Guard to do anything, but a federal intervention thru the Insurrection Act) or his prior tweets calling for paratroopers to crush "antifa"
