Personal Debt and National Security -

Last June the Department of Defense denied an application for security clearance for access to classified information because the applicant had “delinquent debts totaling about $24,000.” In May, a defense contractor was denied a security clearance based on delinquent debts totaling $87,517.
In fact, excessive personal debt is among the most commonly cited reasons for denying or revoking access to classified information.

Classified records that turn 25 years old this year will be automatically declassified on December 31 — despite requests from agencies to extend the deadline due to the pandemic — unless the records are reviewed and specifically found to be subject to an authorized exemption. Mark A. Bradley, the director of the Information Security Oversight Office, notified executive branch agencies last week that there is no basis in law or policy for deferring the automatic declassification deadline.

Reality Winner. you probably saw this Chris Hayes interview where KERRY HOWLEY makes a stunning statement. I can't get over it.

"It's about, in the wake of 9/11, this massive secret state that we build that's outside of democratic processes.
It's not accountable to anyone." "We don't even know what it costs necessarily. That's massively geographically distributed and involves 100,000 of our fellow Americans who go to work every day and can't tell their families what they do. And it's like, who are those people, right?"

Financial markets.
Remember 2007-2008? Where are they now? Not in the news. That's not a good thing. We don't want to know what govt is doing with our money & doing to us. We don't want to know what gamblers are doing with our money & doing to us. We want to remain ignorant. I'm not a finance type, so don't say, 'oh no.' Keep it simple. An unseen & unspoken denizen of the deep that helped wreck the world before, DERIVATIVES, is out of control again. Finance types may disagree & say there's no problem. We have no idea of the size of these things.

Republic vs. Democracy
just to clarify, going from a democratic form of govt to a republican form is transformative in several respects:

1) who has the power. in a democratic form it's the elected. in a republican form it's the people. 2) checks and balances is a strength of a republic. it keeps one branch of government from controlling the other two, or two branches from becoming a majority and controlling the third.

3) who rules. in a democratic form it's the majority. in republican form it's by consensus.

while looking for something else, ran across this troubling study that confirms some things about criminal actions by cops, but that raises other serious questions. it is almost one of a kind on the subject. i think it presents us with a decision to make. Police Integrity Lost: A Study of Law Enforcement Officers Arrested
Bowling Green State University, OH
2016

There is a definitive lack of research into the phenomenon of police crime. That led researchers to conduct this study covering the years 2005-2011.

back to work on KY. One reason little is known about the people in Appalachia is attention was focused mostly on absentee owners of coal mines & textile mills. In KY, only about 8% of the people are African descent, and fewer indigenous, hispanic & asian origin. 84% are white.

dehumanization, characterizing someone as an animal,
has been done to us in places and ways we may or may not have been aware of consciously. trump used it on twitter giving others license. it made it easy for us to oppress descendants of African and indigenous ancestors. I am sorry to say I got in the bad habit. Consciously aware, I will break the habit. It isn't a minor thing. It led to permanent changes in the physiology of people we oppress: their minds, emotions, and the way they function.

Humans are not deserving of what Madison gave us. Not yet. It finally dawned on me today as a rude awakening. It might have made a book, but it was not ready for prime time in this world of primitives. They use deception & brute force to get what they want & they take everything. Was it a waste of time? No, I got to meet all of you. That's what I'll miss. But this is why I came to Twitter. I really thought it was possible. Knowledge gained is never a waste & it showed govt for what it is & it showed life here for what it is, dominated by money.

It's no secret that all of this pain & misery rich white men heaped on us would have been easily avoided by one thing - properly educating every single person. Intelligent people would have never put up with govt's scams & lies. Society would be light years ahead. We are a dumb people & those men are to blame. They haven't changed. Greed & envy. They tell us we need them, that they are the only ones who can save us. Where have we heard that. Educated intelligence should be a step above common sense & knowledge gained.

formulating & organizing thoughts before articulation. umm. felt personal. could be that or philosophical i suppose. a strong reaction of disbelief & fear about this & change. there are those who abhor trump, but assume the old status quo will always be there because it always has been whether it served a purpose or not.

Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said in June he couldn’t predict when or even if the House would resume its regular roster of activities this summer. It would be dictated by when committees finish drafting a slew of must-pass bills to fund govt & reauthorize highway, water & DOD programs. Catch that? Reauthorize bills instead of letting them die like they should. I can't speak for the others, but I know DOD is Truman's 1950 Defense Production Act that congress keeps alive for their defense contractors.
Point is, little to nothing will get accomplished this yr.

"the United States dominates the world through its military power. Due to government secrecy, our citizens are often ignorant of the fact that our garrisons encircle the planet.”
most of them were established during World War II and the early days of the Cold War. "As a result, we consider the situation normal and accept that U.S. military installations exist in staggering numbers in other countries, on other peoples’ land.
the United States likely has more bases in foreign lands than any other people, nation, or empire in history."

Okay. Here's what I've been trying to get across in the words of a great constitutional scholar, Hugh Evander Willis. And I quote, "... under this dual form of govt the states and nation are not sovereign within their respective spheres but are merely exercising for the time being those sovereign powers which the people have seen fit to delegate to each of them for exercise..
. the doctrine of sovereignty in the United States is that doctrine which defines sovereignty... and which makes this power reside... in the people as a whole as organized

By manipulating the democratic process, elites can limit the freedoms of individuals or social groups and put in place leaders who are not democratically inclined. After WWII, a close connection was observed between extremely conservative values & authoritarian tendencies. Social scientists have long known that highly threatening historical periods are accompanied by an increase in authoritarianism in the general population. Whatever the psychological causes, we are witnessing the rebirth of extreme right-wing movements that thrive under anxiety.
