@alexschmidt Possibly one might rephrase this as "technique" (or "tools") versus "mindset" (or "philosophy"?)

So would you rather have an inexperienced researcher who doesn't know the tricks and best practices?

Or a well-schooled researcher who is not coming from the best place? @alexschmidt (This does raise the question of -- well what do you mean the best place, what kind of mindset MUST they have and how do you assess that?)
