Iā€™m trying to wrap my mind around the whole economic picture post 2024. This thread is a mind dump.
Current state is
- 4% unemployment
- 68 million receive Social Security
* 80% Seniors
* 20% disabled/surviving dependents
* 50% of recipients get half/more of income - 10 million undocumented
- 700,000 homeless (2023, seems low), 35,000 veterans
- 162 million employed, 135 million full time - unclear if this includes some undocumented
- 66 Million receive Medicare
- 88 Million receive Medicaid or CHIP

Be prepared.
Lots of people are posting that we need to ā€˜be preparedā€™ for post election turmoil. But what does that mean?
Here are some action items.
1. Get up to date on flu, covid, RSV, shingles and every other vaccine you and your family are due for. Healthy is better. 2. Check your weather preparedness supplies - water, non perishable food, can opener, flashlights, batteries, candles, matches in a waterproof container, first aid kit, OTC medicine. Write down phone numbers stored in your phone. Check generators. Storms will come. Be ready.

Iā€™m writing this thread to provide advice to Democratic candidates who might be new to using social media for campaigning.
Iā€™m not an expert, and there are probably more official and better material, but I see many candidates who need help and I want to have this ready to share. I invite others to both provide suggestions and to pass it on.
Iā€™m writing it geared to this ap, which is sadly deteriorating. I think the advice is adaptable to wherever a candidate chooses to post.

Last week I posted a response on @thejackhopkins thread with a list of 10 Trump related questions I want answers to before I die.
The response was amazing and many people added their own questions. Iā€™ve compiled an expanded list - my 10 is now 72! Original List
1. What Trump and Putin talked about in Helsinki
2. What Trump said to Justice Kennedy to get him to resign
3. What Trump told Lindsey Graham on the golf course 4. Whatā€™s in Ivanaā€™s coffin
5. Whatā€™s on the pee pee tape

Kevin McCarthy and the Freedom Caucus plan to cut Veterans benefits by 22%.
If you are represented by one of these 61 Republican Veterans, maybe youā€™d like to call and discuss this.

A few random thoughts on the proposed rail contract.
1. Marty Walsh - Boston gave up our wonderful mayor for the good of the country, and he came though (no shade to Mayor Wu - she is going a great job too) 2. Which Democratic Senator went to the Senate floor yesterday to block Republicans attempt to undermine negotiations? Bernie Sanders. A risky move if negotiations failed & a strike wasnā€™t averted, but Bernie stood up & expressed confidence in the Presidentā€™s team. Dems in array.

@harrisonjaime @TheDemocrats This thread contains the Twitter handle for every Democratic candidate for Governor, Senator, US House member except the 5 I couldnā€™t find on Twitter.
Please choose a few to follow and amplify a tweet that speaks to you.

@harrisonjaime @TheDemocrats There are 22 US House seats with no Democrat running at all - including 2 in PA, 3 in FL, 6 in TX. Neither North or South Dakota has a candidate.
This hurts state wide Governor and Senate candidates.

If you live in Maine, Nevada, North Dakota, South Carolina:
Your primary is on Tuesday, June 14.
Make a plan to vote!
Here is a little info on Democrats who are on the ballot this week.

Maine
Maine has a Governorā€™s race, and two House seats - but a single Democrat in each race. The reason Democrats should vote in the Maine primary is the state Senate and House races, where there are some contests.
Candidates are listed here:

Good morning Pennsylvanians!
Iā€™ve been looking at PAā€™s Democratic House candidatesā€™ use of Twitter.
Maybe a good Twitter game doesnā€™t matter, but I think it is a great fundraising & communication tool.
My objective is to rally PA Democrats to work together to up your Twitterness PA has 17 House seats.
Sadly, there is no Democrat running in PA 13 or PA 14.
Maybe there is a write in candidate in PA 15 - @realrrjrnkins. Ronnie Ray has @ 5000 followers and hasnā€™t tweeted since May 27. I donā€™t know if he is in or out. Maybe he will respond!

I am sad to say this, but there is NO DEMOCRAT running against Paul Gosar in AZ 09.
(No one against Debbie Lesko in AZ 08 either.)
The candidate in AZ 05 @ramoscd5 Javier Ramos hasnā€™t
Tweeted since 2020. We complain about Democratic messagingā€¦this is a bigger failure - no Democratic alternative to GOP insurrectionists.

Where is @harrisonjaime - DNC Chair
@RepSeanMaloney head of Democratic House Committee
@CaptMarkKelly Democratic Senate candidate

There is a call for @SpeakerPelosi to tell us her plan for getting rid of Trump. I donā€™t think that would be a good idea. You never divulge the game plan to the other team, or the battle strategy to the enemy. Despite the fierceness that those of us who want Impeachment feel, We are not in the majority. As soon as we let the focus be impeachment, the debate changes to whether we are wrong to impeach. Instead, she has made the argument ā€˜impeach now, with no Senate convictionā€™ or ā€˜imprison laterā€™. Meanwhile, hearing after hearing shows the strength
