I have spent literal weeks / months at work trying to demonstrate that carousels are important to e-commerce. This is such an incredible waste of my time.

Go shopping! Count the 🤬 carousels. See how many aren’t accessible, don’t match browser physics, have broken affordances. People have so much respect for engineers time. But so little for PMs time. At least in the UI space. Everything shouldn’t need to be proven from first principles.

Personal take: a lot of things would suck less if design systems and JS frameworks weren’t so tightly coupled. Another take: JavaScript has overstepped. Declarative CSS and HTML need to do *way more* and push JS out of the design system space.
