Yesterday saw two kids trying to buy crackers while policemen lurked around.
In a stroke, Govt made millions of kid wanting to break law or probably made them criminal as well.
Of late Pollution in India has become synonymous with Diwali and Paddy while elephants in the room ie automobile / two wheelers / dust / coal emission continues as it is.

Thread - Why India will remain nightmare for meme manufacturing
It is not Tech or Capital but harassment the one gets if one start manufacturing here
hv known many small town business ppl who started edu buzz just to escape harassment by lowly clerks/officers of govt offices
The default treatment of an Indian businessmen is that -he/she is a thief and minting money.
The moment you set up a factory - all vultures descent on you to grab meat from bones
sales tax / labour dept / fire dept -- list is endless

Making of Migrant - Part II - Agriculture - Thread
Agriculture - Of all systematic wealth transfer programs, Agriculture is most interesting. In India agriculture or rather farmers have remained a very hot issue since independence.
Since 1947, every Govt and its budget has one singular focus that is to work for farmers and improve their conditions. Billions are being spent on doing that with schemes, loans, policies and whatnot.

Making of Migrant : A thread
Coronavirus aka Covid19 has exposed the real underbelly of India and that is migrant workers. Millions of Indians are going back home on foot, in trucks, in containers or in cement mixers.
But the key issue is not tht they are going back home in a destitute manner. The key issue is why million of Indians leave their village at first place and travel 1000 km to work at minimum wages and live forever in abject poverty at a place which is 1000s km away frm their home
Summary 1. U can not crush or flatten the curve. It is an infectious virus & even if 100 infected people are out there, it will spread again which will happen even at 1% false positive or false negative case
2/9 Perpetual lockdown is not possible due to economic losses. Govt of India monthly revenue from GST / Oil / Liquor is around $15 bn. It is down 90%. It simply can’t afford to loose this revenue when it needs more money to not only fight but also support businesses.

0.01% about local govt
and then wonder as why roads in their area are broken

Thread -
60% of Indian farmers are poor and why they are poor.
There are three key stakeholders whose are solely responsible for poor farmer income
and no it is not the middle-men
The real villains are - RBI + Media + Middle Class
1/91. RBI has been maintaining inflation targeting as a key policy maker for a long time ( probably only central bank with such high focus on inflation rate)
But Houston there is a problem. 2/9

Having some (strong) opinion on FireCrackers - +Ve or -Ve - well here is an alternate view -
Diwali Crackers, Pollution and convenient transfer of Guilt
1. Crackers are bad as they cause pollution. The already rotten air of Delhi will be beyond repair if our obsession with bursting crackers continues!

With GDP hitting 5%, there is mushrooming of experts who are giving various views as why economy has slowed down. Interestingly majority of them agree on one point thats is demonetisation and GST and other blah blah
1/n
Well here is counter point - If it was not for demonetisation, economic crisis would have hit us 2 years back. Demonetisation created a push of almost $11 bn to rural households (through money laundering) and kept rural consumption high

2/n 40 CRPF personals died during a mass convoy movement. 26/11, 26/09 and many many such dates. The lists keep on building up. Any other country having such list? Yes there is sheer intelligence failure or rather SYSTEM failure?
