Hard-right activists want SCOTUS to give even more power to gerrymanderers and vote suppressors via a fringe misreading of the Constitution. @BrennanCenter brought together leading scholars to dissect the so-called “independent state legislature theory.” Highlights 👇 🗨️📹… Image We heard from four leading scholars whose work debunks the ISLT - @profaMar (U. of Illinois School of Law), @LeahLitman (Michigan Law), @cshaplaw (Chicago-Kent College of Law), @kateashaw1 (Cardozo Law), moderated by @wuc3 (Brooklyn Law)

New from @BrennanCenter: At least 14 states have passed 22 laws this year that make it harder for Americans to vote. brennancenter.org/our-work/resea… And it's likely to get worse - roughly a third of legislatures are still in session this year and more than 60 bills with restrictive provisions are advancing in 18 states.

1/ BREAKING: @IAGovernor Kim Reynolds just signed an executive order restoring voting rights to tens of thousands of Iowans with convictions in their past!!!! 2/ This is a HUGE – now NO state in the country has a policy of permanently and categorically banning people from voting because of past convictions -- a historic sea change.
