You've just described how democratic voting systems function across the entire world. Keep enough people onside, divide the opposition & you retain power ad infinitum. Weird that Thatcher in the UK, from 1979. Make a whole bunch of people very rich by selling off public assets in a fire sale, hugely reduce taxes on high incomes & businesses, enable low income earners to buy their council houses dirt cheap. Introduce indirect taxation favouring the wealthy

Having babies isn't the difficult part, it's the bit after having them. The raising, nurturing, housing, educating. There are economic & environmental barriers. Maybe ask people why they're not all bringing babies into the world? You may learn something Wealthier nations have lower birth rates, the rate is often lower than population maintenence levels. Why is this? Choice is an important factor,many don't want children & this is a valid choice that must be accepted. A great many defer having children until circumstances improve

What's alarming is the lack of scrutiny being applied to these statements

They're just accepted as gospel, which is kinda weird

I though the media was supposed to question & yet it appears it is only their role to amplify @Peston His intervention hasn't introduced introspection, or discussion

Is it really about Corbyn being unpopular, or is it about how popular he could be?

A caretaker PM only has the power given to them by parliament
