Per @justicedallet: In May and then June, the liberal justices had asked Chief Justice Annette Ziegler to schedule a conference in August to discuss administrative changes. She refused both times. (Reminds me of how @wisgop legislators refuse to confirm @GovEvers' appointees.) Image A set of proposed changes to the WI Supreme Court's internal operating procedures and rules were shared with ALL of the justices this week with a request for Ziegler to schedule a court conference for any date in August. Instead of honoring the request, Ziegler went to the media.

🧵 Okay, Democrats, it's time to get our shit together b/c nothing—and I mean, NOTHING— is more important than the WI Supreme Court election on April 4, 2023. It's where we need to focus our effort and passion for the next five months so here are some details you'll need to know: It already seems apparent but if more than two candidates file by January 3, 2023, a PRIMARY will be scheduled for February 21, 2023. Right now, two liberal-leaning judges—@janetforjustice & @JudgemitchellWI—and conservative @JusticeDanKelly have thrown their hats into the ring.

I just suffered through Michael Gableman's second appearance in front of the Assembly Committee on Campaigns and Elections and I have some thoughts. Thank goodness I was two beers in. Let me frame them using one of his favorites phrases: "Reasonable minds might wonder whether..." Reasonable minds might wonder whether...Michael Gableman himself is Exhibit A of why his investigation isn't considered legitimate and that's why folks are refusing to meet w/ him unless it's in public. No one trusts him. Would you accept a dinner invitation from Hannibal Lecter?

"The new records also indicate that (audit spokesman Randy) Pullen was in touch w/ Reince Priebus, Trump’s first chief of staff & the former head of both the national & the Wisconsin Republican Party, as far back as December, before Pullen was officially involved in the 'audit.'" "The privilege log also indicates that top 'audit' officials — including Cyber Ninjas CEO Doug Logan, Senate Liaison Ken Bennett, and spokesman Randy Pullen — exchanged a number of emails with Shiva Ayyadurai, an election conspiracy theorist and anti-vaccine activist..."

Local media not being very precise as they continue to blithely conflate @RebeccaforReal & the work (like that awful "Forward Agenda") of @1848Project when it's a 501(c)(4) tax-exempt social welfare organization proves how they keep ignoring a huge story right under their noses. It was only five years ago when the John Doe investigation emails were leaked (not to our local media, it should be noted) and revealed how @ScottWalker coordinated w/ a 501(c)(4) group (WI Club for Growth) to circumvent the reporting and contributions provisions of WI statutes.

OF COURSE. In June, Fred Prehn point-blank lied to the media, saying he didn't hear anything from WI Legislative Republicans about him staying in his seat on the Natural Resources Board after his 6-year term expired. Just in case you needed more evidence of him lacking any honor. It's why I kept banging on about that May 25 LBR memo that Prehn kept using as justification to stay on. He was also in contact w/ Scott Manley of @WisconsinMC, which has effusively supported his refusal to step down, saying he's proven to be an "independent" member of the board.

Robin Vos projecting BIG TIME in his FB post that he says states the "truth" about his record. It's basically Vos saying to us Wisconsinites who are suffering, "Who are you going to believe: me or your lying eyes?" So, allow me to respond to each of Vos' four points. @JoelforWI @GovEvers proposed giving the DHS a "sum sufficient" appropriation to respond to the virus but Vos didn't want to give up control so the bill set up a $75M fund to be overseen by the Legislature’s GOP-controlled budget committee, forcing Evers to submit requests. Sounds familiar?
