Okay, I'm going to act as if this was asked in good faith. It wasn't, but let's pretend it was. "Codifying" something requires it be made law. That is not possible with McConnell and the filibuster. If the Senate becomes 2/3rds blue then it becomes a possibility, but not before. This means that - no - Democrats are not responsible for not blocking the worst actions of Republican lawmakers UNTIL you put an overwhelming number of Democrats in office. Which means you can't go about bashing Democrats when you don't get your way.

Okay yeah ... I'll be opening the library on AOC shortly. I stayed away because I hoped she'd learn how to govern, but she's far more of a far right asset than she has ever been a progressive. Yeah, I don't have a fraction of her platform but this is ridic. Soooo ... this is going to be scattered because regardless of what the def totes fauxgressives and also feckin' QAnon will tell you, there is no massive Democratic cabal. Sorry.

So my complaints re: AOC do range. And I wanted to like her. I REALLY did. But ... oy vey.

Okay, so the openly racist misogynist crowing from fauxgressives when HRC won-lost in 2016 wasn't cute but I also didn't properly backhand those who indulged in it so ... we're doing this.

To all you trying to pretend "Bernie-woulda," no. But I will explain why. This election is going to be DOWN TO THE WIRE, but if Biden takes PA and it is likely he will, he's got it. Yeah, it's really annoying that some 66 million Americans looked at a complete idiot who has cost them well over 230k fellow Americans and decided they'd still vote for him

Per a conversation with @nonsanaementis I want to do a little vaccine thread and also make a prediction.

I predict that in the late afternoon of Friday, October 30th, Trump's going to lie that a vaccine has passed all its trials and is going into production. This will be false. Not only will it be a lie but it will be one of the few lies Trump tells which is not merely an exaggeration of his own warped perception of the world but something he genuinely knows to be untrue.

But he'll say it anyway in a last ditch attempt to get people to vote for him.

Okay guys. So ... it's a thread. And honestly ... this is a story that I need to tell you. There is no point nor lesson to be learned this is not scientific this is just a moment in time wherein I've discovered - yet again and also to my horror - that humans are weird. So I like pinterest. It's ... relaxing to look at impossibly gorgeous sculptures adorable cats, recipes including ingredients I can't source, clothing I will never be able to afford or fit into, and crafting projects I realistically will never do.

Sooooo .... during the Holocaust the third reich had two pretty awful policies which I want to say a few words about.

1. they made it basically illegal for Jewish people to have nationality
and
2. they were all about "living room" for Germans and used that to justify invasion. The second part basically gave them the excuse to put Slavic peoples in labor camps and by labor I mean constant heavy lifting from dawn to dusk on a diet of about 600 calories. With that said, if you were sent to a labor camp you had a chance albeit small of survival.

You know how I'm always saying that Black Americans are the most loyal demographic for the Democratic Party? Well let's break that down further. This will give you a basic overview and ... yeah Black Americans voted overwhelmingly Democratic: pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016… Here's more or less the same thing for the 2018 midterm elections. One again Black Americans voted OVERWHELMINGLY Democratic while White Americans were ... not so bright: pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2018…

Okay so this tweet from Leigh sort of sums up why fauxgressivism is super racist. This will be a thread but hopefully a short one.

First off, what Leigh is implying is more or less false. Harris' parents may have been educated but Warren's parents were privileged. Warren's parents owned their own home and were able to buy Warren her own convertible by the time she was 16. She had a full ride to college plus enough money to pay out of pocket for her education. So not only was she middle class but she was upper middle class.

I was really resisting talking about Tara Reade's claims because I know how volatile this subject is. But since the entire world has decided to lose its goddamn mind ... Apparently I and every woman out there has to go and reopen old wounds. So thanks a whole lot, Tara. Here's my take on it in full for the most part medium.com/@ariadneschulz… but I will go through in this thread and give you my opinion which you probably neither want nor asked for. Why? Because I'm tired of hearing men do hot-takes on sexual assault.

Guys, sorrynotsorry, but being a part of a "movement" that got rejected by African-American voters by around 80% in a lot of places does not entitle you to special treatment. Being part of a campaign that was thoroughly rejected at the polls *twice* does not give you the authority to dictate policy to the winners.

Okay guys, I'm the Doctor and I'm going to take you back in time and talk about how people died before modern medicine. Fair warning: it involves a LOT of puss, there's a surprising dearth of aliens, and I don't have a sonic screwdriver. This thread brought to you by twitter scholars speculating that people did "just fine" in the past without medicine. tl;dr for this thread: they did not. They really did not.

*sigh* we're going to thread again. Several guys have tried to do this to me as well, but I get the impression it happens to women of color a hell of a lot more, so we're going to thread about BernieBro harassment. Now, last time I shared a problematic tweet I redacted the tweeter's ID because I felt they deserved a bit of protection. In this case ... this dude is trying to silence a black woman because she has a voice. So he does not deserve my protection. Be decent but ... whatevs.

Since Sanders and Warren broke up there's been all sorts of he said she said stuff happening. Before I thread on this let me make something clear: I don't vote for white nationalists so I won't vote for Sanders. Not thrilled with Warren, but if she gets the nom I'll vote for her. Firstly, it's not right that Sanders doesn't understand the nature of white supremacy and is trying to excuse racism. Secondly, he needs to keep Obama's name out of his mouth particularly given this is MLK weekend. But like I said, he's not ever getting my vote.

Okay, I can't believe I need to do this but let me talk a moment about racism and why people are upset about Warren right now.

I've got a few people upset because it's a "kneejerk" reaction or "splits liberals" and my black friends are getting just inundated. So let's talk. For Warren I do suspect she really didn't mean to be racist. And I expect that all you white people out there wondering why this is such a Big Deal also don't mean to be racist. I get that because I'm white and it took me a long time to understand why these things are problematic

Actually there's another thing on my mind. People always ask me what period of history I would like to live in. And guys, I'm a palaeopathologist. In my research the hardest thing to find is a non f-ed up skeleton. I will explain. Not because you asked me, jut because. So first things first, infant and child mortality in the past was super high because no vaccines. Also a lot of populations particularly transitional populations were basically starving. Surviving infectious disease while you're extremely malnourished is hard.

Apparently one of my threads went viral. So, cool. But what I found amusing about it is how much the Berniebros proved exactly what I was saying. I mean I literally told y'all that you try to silence women and people of color and y'all are up in my mentions telling me to shut up. One of my friends pointed out that a lot of the attention I'm getting is just hate and she seems to be right. But on the other hand ... I'm not afraid of a bunch of white people disliking me. You won't be the first white person to try to look victimized after I've said something.

We need to talk about Trump, little d democracy, how we got here in the first place and how we got out. Again, this is going to piss a lot of people off. If you are one of those people, sit with yourself. Little d democracy was introduced to me from a Madeline Albright book, but I don't the term originated with her. But it's a fragile thing. And it's a fragile thing she saw failing even before 2016.

Okay so it looks like once again we have to talk about *deep sigh* Bernie Sanders. If you have ever considered putting a rose on your twitter profile you're going to hate this. I'm not saying leave now because honestly, you need to hear this all, but you're not going to like it. First thing's first: Bernie Sanders is not liberal. He is not progressive. And he's not even really a Democrat. He never has been any of these things and he does not value them. That is why he failed in 2016. Real progressives, real liberals, real democrats saw through him.

Hey America, I can't solve all your problems but I'm going to tell you about Felix Mendelssohn. Mendelssohn was a contemporary of Wagner and was hated by the man because 1. Mendelssohn was an amazing composer and rival and 2. Mendelssohn was Jewish. Now, when I tell people I seriously studied opera there's two questions I get 1. Will you sing Phantom for me and 2. Oh, so like Brunhilde? And yeah, I'm not going to slam Wagner's work because although it's not really my thing a lot of people adore his *music*.
