1/25 Gene variants MTHFR, BHMT & PEMT lead to reduced synthesis of phosphatidylcholine. Even if synthesis is normal, other gene variants could affect transport and membrane uptake of phosphatidylcholine.

1/22 The Sympathetic Nervous System is made up of noradrenergic neurons which release norepinephrine.

This hypothesis suggests #MECFS comprises 3 subtypes- 1 involving norepinephrine deficiency & 2 involving reduced expression of the norepinephrine transporter.

@OxMEDiscovery Thanks for your work, a very interesting paper! You mention impairments of liver associated pathways. Do you know if the metabolites dysregulated in ME/CFS patients would fit with an impairment of hepatic gluconeogenesis? Gluconeogenesis is triggered during exercise and sleep.. @OxMEDiscovery both things that ME/CFS patients have problems with. Also, a recent study showed that ME/CFS patients blood glucose doesn’t rise after exercise, when it does in healthy people. ME/CFS patients also have higher than normal lactate after exercise, as gluconeogenesis is supposed..
