I keep thinking about this @edyong209 piece in the context of my work on war casualties. I think there may be some connections between how we think about and treat the war wounded and COVID long-haulers that are worth thinking through. 🧵

Following @ProfPaulPoast’s thread from last week, I have been thinking about what IR can tell us about how COVID-19 is being handled internationally.
In our IR field seminar last semester, we discussed why the international response to climate change has been so much weaker than it needs to be. One answer: time horizons. The effects of climate change seem too distant to persuade (some) people that they need to act now.
