“Professional social workers should be especially sensitive to the implications of oppression, exploitation, and victimization. We are trained to recognize and respond to abuses of power and to advocate for and empower vulnerable individuals. - Well, for one: if various people had not decided to make their business matters that were decidedly not their business, as I had not made them their business - there would be no story for me to tell.

Well! The end may be coming sooner than I thought. I’m working on saving old threads. You might find me over at Mastodon eventually: @taramaguire@mastodon.social. I still had more I wanted to say in that latest thread… maybe I’ll be tweeting till the lights go out So apparently in the last few months I… kinda wrote a book? Turns out my pinned thread plus the 3 threads linked within add up to 131 pages when I save them as PDFs from Threadreader. Granted screenshots take up room, margins are wide -

Anyway. This happened. & - look, I know it’s a lot of tweets - not that many words, but a lot of tweets - more than people typically want to read, on here. So I don’t expect a lot of people read it - all of it, all of the threads - all the way through. The apparently impending collapse of Twitter may have a distinct upside for me: it may finally force me to write in a format, or context, which - doesn’t immediately discourage people from reading. Which doesn’t look so excessive. So likely tedious, among everything else on here.

So. It’s October. I was trying to finish my complaint, on here, about the professor, in September - & y’know, I kind of did. While there’s still more to say, I - finally - covered everything I said to the Title IX lady in 2017. & then some. This is an accomplishment in itself - how many threads have I started only to trail off in the middle, never to return… & while it took more than one thread, it didn’t splinter into a million this time, either. There’s mainly three.

We need to bring our latent assumptions and perceptions into the light.” “Express your opinions about my case so that we can challenge the biases that are the silent and complicit partners to the individual harasser.” We can't reframe victim-bla...

I said some pretty similar things on here, a while back - though something less eloquently & a good deal less… coolly. That’s Amia Srinivasan, “On Not Sleeping With Your Students.” (The fuller version, in her book; there’s a somewhat abridged version available on the internet.)
