Once again, a major American publication could not find a journalist who knew the Ukrainian context and did not just come to Kyiv for a couple of days to have coffee with friends. It is quite telling that the story was written by a Russian journalist. There is a rather funny moment in the article. The author of the publication quotes another journalist, Katerina Sergatskova, who complains about the endless war and says, "What are we fighting for - land?". Sergatskova had Russian citizenship until 2015. Image

Oh, yes, these are well-known rules of self-defense issued by US State Department.
Attacker: can do anything to you, beat, cut, rape
You: can only hit the attacker in the left heel when the moon is full in April One of the things that frustrates Ukrainians in their struggle for survival is that we have this demands and conditions that we MUST make our allies HAPPY with constant progress on the battlefield meanwhile NOT UPSETTING Russians with the strikes on their territory.

Does Nothing, founded by @getpeid and invested by @Casey, operate in Russia? I'd like to get to the bottom of this story because it would be very unfortunate if a company that has never worked in Russia decided now to support Russian aggression. After the official announcement of the Nothing Phone (2) smartphone, my attention was drawn to the fact that two videos in Russian language from the Russian channels Wylsacom and Rozetked appeared on YouTube simultaneously with English-language reviews. Ukraine has repeatedly warned about Russian plans to blow up the Kakhovka HPP, but even after calls to prevent this, we now see zero reaction to this disaster. This gives the Russians even more confidence that they can do any terrorist attack, and will not be punished for it. It turns out that the Russians can commit any war crime, and the world will demand proof that it was not Ukrainians who killed themselves.

Story of the day. Russian Igor Alexandrov, co-founder of @jetrockets_com, fled Russia to Georgia in 2022. On its website he hung a heart with the flag of Ukraine. However, Igor was outraged that Ukrainian developer Denis Dovhan calls for a boycott of Russian products. Igor Alexandrov wrote to Denis that he gave work to five Ukrainians in Georgia and if Ukrainians are against the use of products created by Russians, he can fire these Ukrainians. Igor, as a “good Russian” showed his true nature.

If the Western partners will give Ukraine all the needed weapons, this war will be stopped soon. Every hesitation lead to more casualties and destruction of civil infrastructure. Like it was with HIMARS, which was provided to Ukraine, but only after many casualties on Donbas. The priorities of Ukraine support should move focus from "we will support as long as needed" to "we will give all needed support as quickly as we can". The long support is important, but quick military support will save lives and will help to win sooner.

Oh, The NYT did an article about Ukrainian singer Ivan Dorn, who mostly lived in Ukraine but made most of his money from concerts in Russia. They write that Dorn “promoted friendship between the two nations,” but it's not true. He did everything not to anger the Russians. Dorn wasn't promoting to Russians some crucial truth about Russian war in Ukraine, that started in 2014. On his concerts, he just shouted that “we all the same” and “we should be friends”. Nothing serious, unlike many other Ukrainian artists, that were spreading the truth.

On May 1 Russia will celebrate International Workers' Solidarity Day. The irony, that this holiday have tradition slogans: Peace, Work, May! (Мир, труд, май!). But now Russia bans every "peace" slogan, considering it as opposition to war in Ukraine. May 1 was a very important holiday in the USSR, a huge parade took place in Moscow on this day. Therefore, the holiday is important for a state mythology. Since Russia wants to identify itself as much as possible with the USSR.

The more I look at @NATO response to Russian aggression, the more I think Putin can destroy all of Europe. Because the Russian narrative about World War III and nuclear strike applies to every EU state. Just imagine that Russia will launch an offensive against the Baltic countries, what will be the reaction of NATO? They will definitely declare war on Russia, but will they really start to fight? I do not think so. Because of “World War III and nuclear strike”.

Thread about so-called “paramilitary groups”, that some media and politics uses to prevent arm deliveries to Ukraine. They're saying that it's dangerous to give Ukrainians weapons because it can end in hands of “paramilitary groups”, which the Ukrainian government can't control. If you hear something like that, this is complete nonsense. Now I will explain why. Since the beginning of 2022, a law on the foundations of national resistance has been in force in Ukraine. This is an analogue of the Polish military structure.

A thread about “ordinary Russians”, whom many Western media portray as victims of an authoritarian regime. But that's just not true. 🧵 I know some people from Russia who hate Putin and his government, but in general, they have the same Soviet mentality that doesn't respect the independence of Ukraine or other republics of the former USSR.
