been thinking a lot today about hp's wizarding world and colonialism and the patil twins, and getting steadily more wound up about everything not making sense like... I have *some* understanding of the history of south asian migration to the uk. did the patils come over to work in industrial towns, the nhs, airports as many did? or were they east african? was their journey less bound by these waves of migration?

Follow me to Central Asia in the late 15th/early 16th century, where Babur is born in Ferghana. Through his father Umar Sheikh Mirza he’s descended from Timur/Tamerlane; through his mother, Genghis Khan. So he has SOME LINEAGE right there.
