Can an enterprising journalist please investigate the cable/satellite/streaming services that carry Fox News, whose unrepentant lies caused a rebellion against the United States?
Put their spokespeople *on the record*.
Ask them if they feel in any way responsible for 1/6.
Ask them if they are doing anything to counter the lies they bring into tens of millions of homes every day.

I am outraged that Fox News repeatedly pushed the LIE that Trump approved 10,000 (or 20,000?) troops on 1/6.
And this after Fox pushed the "election is stolen" lie HUNDREDS of times!
Why aren't cable/satellite carriers dropping Fox News? Why aren't we demanding it!?
I'm beyond furious right now. TENS OF MILLIONS of Americans believe straight-up LIES that threaten to lay waste to our democracy because @Uverse, @YouTubeTV, @ItsOnATT, @DIRECTV refuse to drop Fox.

🚨🚨 “We would just be sending in ‘fake’ electoral votes to Pence so that ‘someone’ in Congress can make an objection when they start counting votes, and start arguing that the ‘fake’ votes should be counted.” (email from Jack Wilenchik to Boris Epshteyn)
"In a follow-up email, Mr. Wilenchik wrote that “‘alternative’ votes is probably a better term than ‘fake’ votes,” adding a smiley face emoji."

This write-up by @Jose_Pagliery is an altogether very satisfying read.
1. Mobilize the mob to threaten Pence. 2. Force into the car, and spirit him far away from the Capitol. 3. ** The election cannot be certified. ** 4. Possession of the Capitol is now in new hands since the VP is physically gone.

Fox News cast doubt on the 2020 election 800 times within a two-week period after the election.
Their refusal to air the Jan 6 hearings to their deceived viewers is nothing short of a flimsy coverup of their own guilt.
I urge @smartmatic to not settle in this lawsuit. And I hope they financially ruin this vile network that has brought about such political hell in our country.
" ... I and others have advised you that we have evidence sufficient to establish Mr. Trump’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt, and we believe that the prosecution would prevail if charges were brought."
This is clearly FALSE. Trump commits crimes with impunity. He did it before he was in office and while he was in office.
Our justice system DOES NOT WORK. It has failed.

What people keep getting wrong about January 6th is that the insurrection WASN'T only about a mob attacking the Capitol.
Jan-6 was just the Hail Mary after a long series of illegal actions - by Trump and many others - intended to overthrow the United States government
The insurrection was Lindsey Graham asking the Georgia SoS to illegally throw the state to Trump - IN ORDER TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT.
The insurrection was Trump, Giuiliani et al attempting to overturn results in swing states - IN ORDER TO OVERTHROW THE GOVERNMENT.

Manchin and Sinema must make a choice.
1. Protect the votes of American minorities.
OR 2. Protect the votes of the Senate minority party.
The GOP has 100+ bills to strip voting rights.
Dems have bills that will restore them.
To pass Dems bill, we need to nuke the filibuster.
Manchin (1/25/21): "If I haven’t said it very plain... I want to basically say it for you. That I will not vote in this Congress, that’s two years, right? I will not vote" to change the filibuster.

Would you be willing to switch from your current cable provider to @YouTubeTV or another streaming service if it took Fox News out of its basic package, only including it as an optional add-on?
Fox played a major role in inspiring the 1/6 MAGA capitol insurrection.
"In the two weeks after Fox News called the election for Biden, the network’s hosts and guests cast doubt on the results at least 774 times."
It is a provable fact that Fox News disinformation was a major contributing factor to the insurrection of Jan 6.
Congress should immediately draft legislation holding media companies responsible for deliberate lies.
This is probably their last chance to do so with a D majority.
A Truth Matters act could force companies like Fox News to retract misinformation in a meaningful way - or else lose their broadcast license.
This would *not* be like the Fairness Doctrine.
For example it wouldn't require Maddow to spend half her time promoting R politics.

❗️ Ali Alexander, a RW activist, says it was he and 3 congressmen who created the plot to interrupt Congress's certification of Biden's win:🔽
Fox has stoked racism and other divisions. Fox tells its viewers that Democrats are their enemies. Fox lied about the coronavirus. And without Fox News, Trump would have been removed from office long ago.

🚨 Andrew Weissmann lists the criminal statutes that Trump may have broken when he pressured state officials to overturn the election.
Election Interference Statutes
- 18 USC 241: Conspiracy against rights
- 18 USC 242: Deprivation of rights under color of law
- Wire fraud
Here is the DOJ's information on 18 USC 241. It carries some serious jail time and does NOT require an overt act to be committed.

Here's a video clip from the protest outside Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson's house in Detroit tonight.
I swiped the video off one of the protestor's Facebook posts. They're yelling, "Stop the Steal!" into megaphones and calling her a felon(?) They're clearly living in an alternate reality.

Everything about Trump's rally tonight was an awful assault on the United States.
Does it ever feel to you like a physical punch to the gut?
The worst of it is that Republicans don't care and will do nothing more than calculate how Trump's rally affects their chances of controlling the senate.

🚨 Republican member of Michigan Board of Canvassers, Aaron Van Langevelde, will certify the Michigan election results.
Watch his comments here.
Norman Shinkle, the other Republican member, just said he's NOT voting for certification.
