OU's President issues a letter to students concerning Gov. Stitt's executive order to review all Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion state spending at state agencies & public colleges in Oklahoma. Harroz refers to OU's "unwavering" values that "transcend political ideology... " 🧵 Image OK could follow Florida and Texas, who've banned DEI spending in PUBLIC colleges. DEI policies are routinely highlighted on the websites of PRIVATE colleges & businesses including Gateway First Bank, part-owned but not controlled by Stitt Family Trust.🧵

Stitt & Walters say third-party vendor "Class Wallet" is to blame for missteps in distributing millions of Governor's Emergency Education Relief funds (GEER) with some blown on non-education items like TVs & grills. Drummond says 27 other states didn't have that issue. (2/5)

WITHIN AN HOUR of finding out he is the acting Governor of Oklahoma, Senator Greg Treat signed an Emergency Declaration for Eastern Oklahoma. This will help with various recovery efforts and trigger the Emergency Price Stabilization Act to prevent price gouging. @kfor Image Treat makes the point in his presser: "He began reviewing the documents the governor’s office prepared at 1:40 p.m. and signed it before 2 p.m. – prior to the governor’s press release calling on the pro tem to sign the state of emergency."

"You gotta teach everybody on how to include everybody? That's horse shit" says Rep. JJ Humphrey who along with Rep. Standridge, are proposing Senate Concurrent Resolution 12. It directs OK Universities to immediately discontinue and disband their DEI programs in whole. (1/5) Gov. Stitt admits "people are going to be idiots" (referencing racial incidents on OK campuses that have made national headlines) but says he can't see why you'd use "tax dollars to try to educate...18-year-olds." He supports banning Diversity, Equity & Inclusion programs (2/5)

BREAKING FROM AP: The Supreme Court blocks Oklahoma from executing death row inmate Richard Glossip after the state's attorney general agreed Glossip's life should be spared. @kfor Image The high court put the execution on hold while it reviews the case. Justice Neil Gorsuch took no part in the case, presumably because he dealt with it earlier as an appeals court judge.

Governor Stitt responds to questions about his veto of legislation to renew OETA's authorization for another three years.

ILLUSTRATION of what the OK School Tax Credit/Voucher bill looks like for some typical families. I say "voucher" because private school families can get more than a tax credit. They may also get a check, even after their state tax bill is ERASED.
2 scenarios (thread 1/7) @kfor The senate education bill has an income cap of $250,000 a year. If you have two kids in private school and a household income of $250,000… you're eligible for $15,000 in private school vouchers every year. (2/7)

KFOR asks Oklahoma's congressional delegation why they voted "NO" on The Affordable Insulin Now Act. It would cap insulin prices for patients at either $35 a month or 25% of an insurance plan's negotiated price (depending on which is lower) 🧵 Rep. Markwayne Mullins called it a "socialist drug pricing scheme that will stifle medical innovation and lead to fewer cures." (included is his 2020 tweet when he praised Trump's plan to lower insulin costs) Frank Lucas says it will "increase yearly premiums." 🧵
