The stage design for the #BTS_ARIRANG_TOUR was explicitly inspired by Gyeonghoeru Pavilion. A modern reinterpretation of the Gyeonghoeru Pavilion stands at the center of a 360-degree stage.
let's dive in the architectural side of the inspiration ↓
Gyeonghoeru: Features a traditional hipped-and-gable roof with dramatic, sweeping eaves designed to shed rainwater and control sunlight.
Arirang Stage: The massive LED screen wings and overhead rigging are angled upwards and outwards, recreating the iconic 'spread wing' silhouette of the pavilion’s roofline.
Gyeonghoeru: The interior features 48 massive columns (24 circular inner columns and 24 square outer columns) arranged in a precise grid to support the weight of the massive roof.
Arirang Stage: The stage utilizes a dense, industrial grid of scaffolding and vertical trusses that mirrors the pavilion’s 'forest of pillars.'
