I'd like to take this moment to share a story of the great Patrick Dussud, who used to work on the .NET runtime team. 🧵 If you don't know Patrick: He was a technical fellow, which is the highest level an individual contributor at Microsoft can achieve. It's the equivalent of a VP position. Microsoft has very few Technical Fellows (last I checked ~50). Anders Hejlsberg and Mark Russinovich are TFs.

I think that is a very good point actually.

TL;DR Enterprise software is harder than academics or product devs give credit, a thread. 🧵 Academia has the luxury of studying problems in depth. A lot of the traditional comp sci subjects have usually multiple decades worth of research put into them.

Please don't file .NET 5+ bugs/feature suggestions via Visual Studio's send feedback. We exclusively work off of GitHub. You can still do that of course, but we'll move them all to GitHub anyway.
