I was thinking this week how mad and sad it is how much the comedy industry in this country let black people down man.

Generations of crazy talented black comics were ignored in this country by the media and broadcasters.

Lenny Henry, Desmond’s, The Real McCoy... then nothing. The US with all its many issues and problems, at least produces films and shows with and for black people and they’re amongst the best tv and film they have!

It makes the issue of white comics blacking up even more stark. Rah the only black faces in tv comedy for 25yrs was that?

I will be (financially) worse off under a Labour Government.

But I’m happy to make that ‘sacrifice’ for the #LabourManifesto because: My hometown and others like it across our wonderful country have been ravaged by austerity. How can I be content with a few more quid, but see continued decay and misery wherever I travel across the land?
