Unlike every President before him, Trump took office with a set of surgical tools, like TPP, to leverage against China. But, he threw them in the trash. Now he’s left trying to do open heart surgery with a sledgehammer and a rusty screwdriver. When I was running for Congress, I had concerns about TPP’s impact on manufacturers and commercial fishing in Eastern NC. Still, TPP would have given America a stronger hand to force China to curb their unfair trade practices.
