I asked what writing/publishing advice could help people right now, so I'm going to tackle this (BOTH PARTS!) today! First up: book publicity/marketing. I am not only an author, but I have a marketing degree and have worked in marketing (mainly theatrical film) for 15+ years! There are so many parts to book publicity and marketing, so first of all I want to say what I am NOT tackling and what I am NOT the best at knowing about: schools, libraries, book bloggers/'stagrammers/etc., i.e. trade/b2b/etc. Your publisher is likely a genius about this stuff!

I was asked if I'd do a thread on how to use Microsoft Excel spreadsheets to write/revise novels, so, yes, I will! My dayjob works almost entirely in spreadsheets so it's the way my brain sorts information easily, which is one reason this works best for me. So because I write romcoms (or books containing romcoms), I often structure my books at least lightly around Billy Mernit's romantic comedy structure. So I might list those major points in one column and then have the freedom to use as many rows listing things that happen.
