as a hiring manager, i hate cover letters. they are a lackluster solution to a real problem but they perpetuate inequity in invisible ways that that prime hiring managers in ways that are non-inclusive and reduce the diversity of your candidate pool. 🧵
Think about what it takes to write a good cover letter: an understanding of the job, the org/company, what the hiring manager is optimizing for, and a million other things that almost never really get teased out in a job description.
