I think it’s becoming more clear that the Teamsters may actually be serious about an endorsement for Donald Trump, and I’m trying to brace myself for the liberal meltdown and how all unions are going to get hit in the blast radius. Actually holding a member poll means you’re creating an expectation that you’re going to abide by it, and unless they’ve got internal data that tells them their membership is a hell of a lot more left-leaning than it seems…

The thing that kills me is that when Biden and Democrats talk about democracy, they’re talking about it in the narrowest sense possible: whether we have functional elections.

It’s divorced from the deeper democratic questions that got us here in the first place. Are elected officials responsive to their constituents? Do legislative and executive decisions reflect public sentiment and desire? Is running for office accessible to Americans of all backgrounds?
