I still believe this ⬇️ is correct. I believe if SARS-CoV-2 were to pick up an HIV protein through template switching during replication, it would be producing an antisense protein and not a functioning one.
I feel it’s possible that recombination with a coronavirus could be how HTLV itself got an antisense protein.

This will require elaborating after rest. Enveloped viruses can use lipid rafts to get directly to the brain. A single virion can be placed on its receptor directly and bypass the upper respiratory tract infecting the brain.

We wouldn’t have such genetic diversity and VOC without viral persistence. Retro virus replication is generally unstable with mistakes, but SARS-CoV-2 has a proofreading mechanism in nsp 14, and nsp 7&8 function together to allow a ds stranded template during replication.
All coronavirus have a reverse transcriptase, transposable elements, frame shift and template switching as part of their toolkit. They can integrate into host DNA.

What I notice most in relation to SARS-CoV-2, specifically, is that TLR4 and CD14 populations are higher in males. These are cells targeted by the virus. Also, the size and density in specific locations of microglia is different between the sexes.
