Yesterday we got a message from @artistandgal about an interaction she had with 154 contemporary African Art Fair. She’d written to express her disappointment that they had not said anything about whatʼs going on right now in America & pointed out that their silence was deeply problematic considering the entire premise of their organisation is to advocate for African artists and profit from the creative output of black artists. They replied saying ‘1-54 is sometimes reluctant to communicate about current political matters,ʼ but she was welcome to

the art world is too stressful, exclusive, uncreative and harmful across the board and I don’t wanna inherit its shit. Rip it up n start again. We should be deciding how this goes - we’re able 2 be political in a way other industries aren’t. Let’s get 2 it 🚫 I’m 24 and I’m tired. What does it say about the people in power that they’re okay working like this ☹️
