Okay I've been mostly not getting deep on this, but this is bugging me, so...
People keep coming at @RVAwonk saying she can't say Bouzy asking her to a bar was uncomfortable because *she* chose the bar.
Except...she didn't.
This whole thing kicked off with a casual public interaction. Caroline and Bouzy ended up in a discussion, discovered their mutual professions, and Caroline made a casual, open-ended comment that they should hang out and talk shop some time.

I've talked before about how trauma doesn't understand time--it retains itself as *present,* always.
But sometimes?
I think trauma is a thing that breaks your garbage disposal.

Our brains have a sort of built-in garbage disposal. When functioning as intended, that garbage disposal takes events, chews them up, and flushes them away, retaining only what's relevant.
It's how we let go.

I just had to block the author of that Elephant in the Room article because she's trying to use my personal choice to not salt the earth where she stands for her shite-arse apologies to somehow vindicate herself or something. I don't know. I just don't appreciate her RTng me.
So lady, if you're checking up on why I blocked you:
I made a choice for *me* to speak to you re: nuance rather than getting my blood pressure up.
You don't get to use my words as if they're some kind of endorsement, absolution, or forgiveness by RTing them into your TL.

Going to be taking a line-by-line look at this and breaking out some points of contention/things that I think need further scrutiny or just, you know, need to be pointed out as NOPE. Will be threading here with screencaps of individual sections to leave characters for analysis.
1.) Immediately starts off with an appeal to sympathy for how hard this is for *him,* disrespecting how hard it's been for Courtney and every RWA board member and general member thrown under the bus. Center's Suede's trials and sets the tone of how we should feel for him.
And it's that Suzan Tisdale is presenting herself as marginalized and speaking truth to power based on differentials in platform size.

For a while now a lot of people have operated under the erroneous assumption that platform size is an equivalent to systemic privilege, and it is not. Especially not for marginalized folk.
And the RWA decision has proved that beyond the shadow of a doubt.
