After an hour or two of profound contemplation I have discovered that Ancient Egyptian pseudoboyfriend Nemti-Wer's name means "Big Nemty" I understand only enough Ancient Egyptian to transliterate any twenty-word text in five hours or less, with the help of a dictionary

Your brain has evolved to pay more attention to hateful, disgusting, and dangerous things than it does to the things you enjoy, because seeking pleasure is not as important to your survival as avoiding pain. Tweets that piss people off get more engagement than nice ones for the same reason apes scream louder about a python than they do about a cantaloupe. If you can visualize a business that makes money based on the volume and quantity of ape screams, that's twitter.

Every time I rip my nails to the quick I pretend I'm Karla and that makes me feel better "The Americans had had him tortured... No fingernails."

A frequent criticism of women-centric horror movies is that they demonize the feminine by portraying it as monstrous. But if we assume that women are also making and consuming horror movies, the genre reveals itself as an outlet for us to talk about the trauma of womanhood. What if The Exorcist isn't about the susceptibility to evil inherent in pubescent girls, but instead about the horror of your body being hijacked by womanhood, malforming, demanding, hypersexual, oozing and corrupted?

If you equate “drawing well” with “drawing realistically” you don’t know the first thing about drawing and your opinions are worthless to me “Realistic” art is a social construct. You take a look of a photo of a garden at Giverny and you look at Monet’s painting of it and then you go stand in front of the real thing and tell me which one it’s most like.

A paper copy is $1 but the content is free, so please share! etsy.com/listing/693692… If any teachers, retailers, or very enthusiastic zinesters would like to order of 10 or more copies of this book, please get in touch for a discounted rate! If you want to, print these jpgs out and sell your own copies! (Just don't remove my name or alter the content.)

Last week I saw the Holzer exhibit at Mass MoCA where oversized paintings of literally hundreds of documents relating to US government use of torture, including autopsies, witness reports, and internal emails, covered the walls of several rooms. It took me hours to read them all. I also saw her Lustmord Table, where excerpts from accounts of politically-motivated mass rape-murder written by witnesses, victims, and perpetrators are printed on silver bands which encircle real human bones.
