How about this year we spend some time on wildfire preparation for the 4th of July, instead of, y’know, starting wildfires?
Here are a couple of things worth doing this weekend, geared towards folks in the Portland, OR area:

How is it not bigger news that the Chabad House in SW Portland was lit on fire for the SECOND TIME THIS WEEK last night? Chabad Houses are Jewish community centers.
The damage from the second fire is described as extensive; there's not a fire-specific fundraiser up yet, but you can donate to them here jportland.raisegiving.com

Portland’s protests are continuing, but some of the organizations have shifted, combined or disbanded. If you’re looking to support Portland protestors as of August 4th and can afford to donate, here are people and orgs I’ve seen doing important work here in Portland.
PDX folks, feel free to add links to the thread — I’ll retweet what I have time to verify. Please ignore my previous thread in favor of this thread, because a lot of that information is now outdated.

I know folks are looking to support Portland protestors right now. For those who can afford to donate, here are people and orgs that I’ve seen doing important work over the past 50 days. PDX folks, feel free to add links to the thread — I’ll retweet what I have time to verify.
Before I get into the thread tho, please look at your own community first. Portland is not the only place where federal agents kidnap residents off the street and it’s not the only place where police gas and beat protestors. Showing up for your city is important too.

Sleeping in tents
Leaving aside SQLite's source material for their so-called CoC, it's not actually a CoC or enforceable in any way. There's no way to address behavior that violates the Rule of Saint Benedict. I wonder why...
Oh, wait, I don't! It's because the Rule of Saint Benedict is designed to work for a very small community (i.e. a monastery) entirely comprised of people who have already agreed to live by the same rules.

A couple of things I want to point out about this morning's DHS raid on the #occupyicepdx camp that highlight the reasons protesting is important right now.
DHS' officers are not identified beyond their affiliation with DHS.
