This is big: China’s state planner announced it's requiring some second and third-tier cities with urban population of 1-3 mln to eliminate the "hukou." or household registration restrictions.
caixinglobal.com/2019-04-08/res… That means migrant workers in some midsize cities like Wuxi or Ningbo would be able to register a local hukou and finally get the same treatment as locals with access to education, social security and health care.
