🧵I wrote a piece about my suspension from @Cornell for peacefully protesting a career fair w/ arms companies @Boeing and @L3HarrisTech that supplied Israel's genocide in Gaza.

I was banished from campus and effectively placed under home confinement.

mid-theory.com/2025/02/05/pok… Even though more than 100 students took part, Cornell singled out 16 of us for suspension, mostly Black, South Asian, Arab, Muslim, Jewish and foreign students. Some were banned from attending Shabbat or Friday prayers on campus, and exiled from their religious communities.

I don't think it's anyone's place to claim a monopoly on Blackness in the Americas when an estimated 40% of African captives to survive the middle passage arrived in the Caribbean and 45% in Brazil. 4-6% made it to the United States. (Thread) What would US Black culture be without its Black immigrants? They've been at heart of every major epoch of politics and culture.
