A bill in the Senate that would offload some of the central government’s land holdings is stirring up a lot of talk online, and I think it’s time for conservatives to remember two quick important points:

1) If you care about the preservation of land, getting it out of the control of the feds is the priority, not the risk.

2) Teddy Roosevelt is hands down one of the top 5 worst presidents in American history.

Let's start with the latter and then segue into the former. Before I quickly address Roosevelt as a politician, I’ll note that as a man he was indeed very brave. He was beset with all kinds of health issues as a child but largely overcame them through sheer determination. He also overcame tragedy; his wife and mother died on the same day, Valentine’s Day 1884. Most of us already know of his affinity for exploration, travel, hunting — he was an ubermensch who relished overcoming the hardest challenges life offers. He declined running for re-election in 1908 so he could instead go on a 2-year African safari. Toward the end of his life he organized a trip through the Amazon from which he barely escaped alive.

And yes, once while en route to a speech, he was shot, but still attended & delivered the speech, only seeking medical attention afterward. (Roosevelt's 50 page speech and steel glasses case saved his life, but the bullet remained lodged in his ribs for the rest of his life.)

However, some of this bravery is probably better classified as bravado, and he had a tendency toward violence even as a child. (When his girlfriend broke up with him as a youth, he was so angry he shot & killed his neighbor’s dog.) After helping engineer the start of the Spanish-American War — he once wrote, "I should welcome almost any war, for this country needs one” — Roosevelt created his own unit, “The Rough Riders,” made up largely of privileged Ivy Leaguers who sought glory. In his book glamorizing the experience, he recounted how once when he saw one of his fellow soldiers dodging gunfire, he felt it cowardly & badgered him into charging into the gunfire, which of course led to his immediate death. TR was amused.

As usual, Justice Thomas is the only justice who seems to have read the U.S. Constitution. The 2nd Amendment prohibits the federal govt from restricting an individual's right to bear arms, regardless of how politically unpopular they may be. As Justice Thomas notes, Americans can now lose their 2nd Amendment rights without due process.

Lest there be any doubt, the role of “fact checkers” like CNN’s Daniel Dale (@ddale8) is to create smokescreens & distractions whenever the public starts getting too close to facts.
Take the Biden WH’s engineering of the DoJ’s case against Biden’s chief political rival. Dale has regularly taken to the airwaves to insist there’s “no evidence” the Biden W.H. had anything to do with the administration’s case against Trump. Like this clip from June last year:

Seven books everyone should read to make the world a better place:

1) "Politics of Prudence" by Russell Kirk. One of those books w/ impenetrable logic. Kirk argues there is no ideology that’s better than every other, and that conservatism, at its core, is the negation of ideology. Permanent things like creed, culture, & customs are how civilizations take shape & perpetuate themselves, enabling individuals to live in peace while orienting themselves toward excellence & beauty. Here’s the real story of the 14th Amendment, which progressives are using to try Putining Trump off the ballot.

The 14th Amendment has always been intended to empower Washington to lord over states, although even its authors never intended for it to go as far as it has, w/ federal judges over the last 100 years having decided it actually enables them to nullify state laws they dislike. After the Civil War, Lincoln's Republican Party controlled Congress (in large part due to federal officers arresting anyone speaking on behalf of Democrats), and, seeking to adopt the 14th Amendment, they prevented southern states congressional representation unless they ratified the 14th Amendment.

As today’s the 60 year anniversary of JFK’s assassination, I’d like to share the most interesting information I’ve come across while recently reading a few books: “Legacy of Secrecy: The Long Shadow of the JFK Assassination” by Lamar Waldron & Thom Hartman, “Devil’s Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA, and the Rise of America’s Secret Government,” by David Talbot, and “Chaos: The Truth Behind the Manson Murders” by Tom O’Neill. Waldron’s basic conclusion is that the CIA’s partnership with the mafia — involving myriad criminality, such as trying to assassinate Fidel Castro — spun out of control & the mafia, angry at AG RFK’s crackdown on organized crime, exploited their insider-role in Washington to assassinate Kennedy (as any proper investigation would expose the CIA’s enabling of the then-three largest crime families). Waldron acknowledges that many of the most mobbed-up CIA agents also admitted being involved in the assassination, such as the CIA’s Miami station boss, David Morales (who, the more you read about him, the more he sounds like a serial killer who happened to work for the government), but Waldron stops short of blaming anyone at the CIA for orchestrating the hit.
