Dear Battlefords,
@jeremycockrill doesn't deserve your vote. He shouldn't be a minister let alone an MLA. Some of Jeremy's low lights... 1/7 To a Mom who lost their daughter and was advocating for Sask kids with special needs during teachers' bargaining.

Jeremy thoughtlessly asked her about what teachers expected... β€œWhat do they want me to do? Give up my first-born child?” 2/7

Did a little brainstorming with @dragonfly_jenny today and we came up with ideas for an education platform. Sask citizens need specific, concrete solutions to address the crisis in education. What can political parties do to solve the problems the @SaskParty has created? /1 First, commit to including class size and complexity in teachers' contract. Mention class size caps and professional (e.g., educational psychologists, speech language pathologists) to student ratios based on research-informed recommendations. /2

Not allowed to live-tweet in the Legislature session, so here's a post-tweet breakdown of my experience as a long-time Saskatchewan teacher.

First, I felt angry and still feel angry. Some teachers could no longer listen to @PremierScottMoe blatantly lie and left the gallery. /1 Teachers were recognized by both sides but mostly by the NDP. Students were also introduced, and I doubt that many @SaskParty members can remember their names or school because they talked over it. Wanna make teachers angrier? Disrespecting students will do it. #ISupportSTF /2

Here we go. Dustin Duncan for the 2nd time in a week. We shall see how he's received at #stfcouncil. Just as an aside, I'm expecting a canned speech and not much else. Introducing the minister. Has been in politics since he was 26 years old. Introduction finished. Smattering of applause... I didn't clap.

Just remembering a couple other moments from Duncan's session yesterday... He was talking about the Covid funding from the feds and how it was temporary. A teacher yells out that Covid isn't over. He replies and says it's in a different phase now. She's like "Yeah, okay." πŸ˜‚ Re: the Legacy Christian Academy abuse scandal and his response. He explains the measures he's taken to remove accused individuals and monitor schools more closely. After his explanation, several teachers yell out "Cut their funding!"

Duncan describing all the capital funding for education. Colour me unimpressed. We need those funds for kids in the classroom, too. #reginateachersconvention Talking about mental health. No one can argue this is important but being proactive is necessary. Support the social programs up front. $500,000 for mental health first aid. That's a drop in the bucket. πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ

Inexplicably, the govt gives three Christian schools at the center of abuse allegations another chance including Grace Christian School. They already had no building after being essentially evicted by the church they were using. 1/8

thestarphoenix.com/news/local-new… Despite dozens of abuse allegations including several against the director of Grace Christian School (formerly at Legacy Academy), they assigned a government hired administrator to try to make it work so this school could remain open WITH public funds. But it gets worse... 2/8
