Republicans today have built an entire rhetoric around opposing:

- being “woke,” to remain ignorant

- “virtue signaling,” to mock anyone doing the right thing

- antifa, to support American fascism

- anti-racism, to continue courting racists
1/ - black lives matter, to keep killing innocent black ppl

- “political correctness,” to simply be assholes

- protecting trans kids, to be bullies

- social justice, to embrace inequality

- and their newest focus is stamping out “cancel culture” - or a boycott of boycotting.

The disbanding of the pandemic task force wasn’t a mistake, it was an ideological choice to NOT be prepared, and to let nature take its course.

For American conservatives, if we die from a natural disaster or from a natural cause, it’s our fault anyway.
1/ To them, the invisible hand of the market, of nature, or of God, will take care of us, and - like wearing seatbelts, locking up guns, reducing emissions - any other attempts to protect Americans are useless.

It’s worth asking why Trump & Republicans want to cut Medicare & Social Security. Why is such a small percentage of the federal budget such a focus?

Here’s why: they think a safety net makes you lazy.
1/ These guys, most of whom were born with a personal safety net worth millions, believe health & food security will make you stay home from work.

If we’re going to follow the Bible on abortion, the book of Numbers explains how priests must cause an abortion for pregnancies from affairs.

Personally I think that’s extreme, but if the woman wants to follow the Bible, that should be up to her. In other words, the new Georgia & Ohio anti-abortion laws discriminate against Christians’ freedom of religion by not allowing them to follow the requirements of the Bible.
