I have been noticing alot of discourse about a French Senate bill aiming to sanction opposition to Israel. This thread will provide clarity on the facts and reasons why it's extremely unlikely to become law. It will be referred to as 'the bill' throughout this thread.
Proposed by 16 Senators, the bill would amend the French press freedom law, penalizing contesting Israel's existence (1 year prison, €45,000 fine), insulting Israel (2 years prison, €75,000 fine), and inciting hatred/violence against Israel (5 years prison, €100,000 fine).
