For Muslim League, Pakistan was the ultimate demand and to achieve this, they unleashed barbaric atrocities against Hindus, specially in Bengal. Direct Action was indeed a 'holy' day for the Islamists 1/5
when they butchered unarmed Hindus with swords and other lethal weapons, raped Hindu women and looted Hindu properties in Calcutta, Dhaka and many other cities of Bengal in the span of few days. The effect of this day remained for long. 2/5
