This is an absolute must-read. It confirms that what the right has been warning about wokeness (for years now) is all true. More than that, the left knows it's true because it has been tearing their institutions apart. I had so many stray thoughts while reading this that I don't even know where to begin. I guess the big takeaway is that this makes perfect sense. It's what you would have expected.

I'm upset about the dangerous and stupid riots yesterday at the Capitol but the sudden amnesia on the left (which Lopez is pointing out) is infuriating. From the NY Times, May 30, 2020:

It's interesting to think about the choices the ad company made here. They knew if they cast a slightly overweight woman as the wife, the reaction would have been negative. So they cast a perfect model as the wife and that's also bad, but different. The problem was the whole concept. This is clearly modeled after those car ads where the wife gets a new car with a big red bow.

@brianstelter That's the least dishonest take I've seen but it's still not very good for a dozen reasons. But I'll give it this much: By comparing this to similar defenses at Vox, Washington Post you can see where those outlets got it completely wrong. @brianstelter There was nothing out of context here. As I've said repeatedly, this shouldn't have become a huge deal. All Omar needed to do was admit this was "inartful" on her part and correct it. Instead she accused her critics of trying to get her killed. Talk about bad faith.

I don't usually subscribe to the idea that Trump is playing 7-dimensional chess in his outbursts, but I think his tweets this morning are an exception. Here's why... Last week the NY Times reported Mueller was eyeballing Trump's tweets for a possible obstruction charge. Trump's lawyers argue his tweets are just a politician defending himself in public.
