Not content with banning abortion, the sponsors of H. 3549 want to charge women with murder and sentence them to the death penalty. There are no allowable exceptions in this bill. If you're dying and you have an abortion to stay alive, you can claim self-defense in court.
You should know who is pushing this bill. Here are the sponsors:

These members of the SC House of Representatives are running unopposed this election, but you should know who they are because they've stood up every time for our reproductive rights! If you're in their district, volunteer to help elect a pro-choice candidate in another district!

These great legislators in the SC House have voted time and again to let women and their doctors make the best decisions for their pregnancies. Those who support women also support public schools, teachers, equality, clean water, public safety, all good things. Vote for these:
Anne Parks in HD 12 in Greenwood County, running against Daniel Gibson who says SC needs to be more extreme and supports all abortion bans. Vote for Anne, not that other dude.

In some SC House races the incumbents aren't running again or it's a new district. But we know the opposition will ban abortion because they've told us. Vote for these pro-choice candidates instead of the other folks. Let's go!
Paused to eat. Back in a bit! 😏

Let’s identify the candidates who believe only women and their doctors, not politicians, can make decisions about abortion. They are running against these Republicans who voted to ban abortion in SC. Find your district and vote for these pro-choice candidates instead:
Chris Salley is running against Jay West in HD 7 in Anderson, Abbeville and Greenville Counties. Vote for @SalleyforSC7.

Now for the rest of the Republicans:
Kirkman Finley was there but did not vote. That’s the same as a yes vote. You don’t get to ride the fence and tell people on both sides that you’ve got their back. Kirkman’s previous abortion votes show he supports abortion bans.
Kirkman Finley voted for a bill earlier this year requiring doctors to provide false, dangerous information to abortion patients that could put their lives in danger. He voted to allow doctors to refuse to treat women who have had abortions and LGBTQ people.

Until you start explaining all the damage that an abortion ban can mean for the women of SC, you may think an abortion ban just prevents abortion. But no. It’s multi-layered and can impact all aspects of women’s lives. Here’s how:
The bill introduced in the SC House and Senate bans all abortions, even in cases of rape, incest, severe fetal diagnosis, and women’s health. Unless a pregnant woman is immediately dying, abortion is illegal.

Outside with a bright sun, beautiful blue sky and nature all around me, I know this is the South Carolina I love. Making it a better state for everyone is something we can do. Must do. And that means making changes. We can’t keep doing the same old thing and get off the bottom.
We’re among the worst states for education, health care, domestic violence, women dying during pregnancy, babies dying in their first year, pay for workers - women and men, STD rates, the health of our residents, income gaps, violent crimes...
