Brits did not build a grand capital in Delhi to leave just 16 years after it was inaugurated. They wouldn't have become Indians if they had stayed on, as they planned to.
Mughals came to and stayed in India only because they had nothing to go back to, and not out of love for India or Indians. They never considered themselves Indian. Adopted Farsi as state language, imposed their faith through sword, took Indian women, but did not let their own women marry Indian princes/kings, because they would have had to convert to Hinduism.
Indians never stopped fighting them and in the end, they were vanquished by Marathas, before Brits came in. In 1947, India lost 1/3rd of its land to that very invader-oriented supremacist jihadist mindset, which also proved that so-called syncreticism was totally fake and one-sided.
Let's stop fooling Indians.

Another myth was busted by a panelist last night. Of the 13.5K names engraved on it, 10K are of British soldiers.
India Gate was NOT erected to honour 70K Indians who died fighting Britain's wars. It was erected to mark Britain's victories. Next to it was a statue of their king.
How many know that before a helmet atop a rifle was hastily placed in the bowels of India Gate in 1972, it had no sanctity as a War Memorial and people not only had full access to this Victory Arch but were also allowed to drive right through it?
