Tonight's gig was playing for (and dining with) a book club that has been meeting continuously for THIRTY YEARS, and wow is it fun to watch people who have known each other that intimately for that long.
The other musician with me also pointed out how unusual it is to encounter a group like that who are socially adept enough to still be able to easily welcome outsiders into a club that's been together for that long, and she was right, they couldn't have been cooler.

People get so offended by this idea as if lip syncing the halftime show means they're just throwing the featured artist's album on the stadium sound system. That's not how it works at all. 🧵 below if you want to know how it works (because I've been a part of it)
First of all, every NFL halftime show is a massive and impressive undertaking, coordinated between artists, stagehands, choreographers, arrangers, producers, video teams, and many more people. It's deeply impressive what they manage to pull off on a weekly basis.
