The UN'S Taliban/AQ/IS Monitoring Team released its semi-annual report on the status of these groups on Friday, detailing the best information it has from UN Member States on statuses + activities of the groups.

A TLDR on the striking Africa sections:

undocs.org/S/2022/83 1) On one hand, per exec summary, AQ/IS in Africa appear to rank as #3 concern of Monitoring Team. This follows seeming concerns re Taliban takeover in AFG (#1) and presence of IS-K (#2).
