The House and the Senate passed the final budget earlier today. It’s now on Gov. DeWine’s desk to review and sign. This budget is a win for the rich in Ohio.
Here’s a 🧵 with the good, the bad, and the ugly.
first some context:
The state budget matters, because we all need to put food on the table, pay the rent, and pay for the basics to support ourselves and our family. We pool our tax dollars to build a foundation of health and economic security for all of us.

The Ohio Senate is about to pass their version of the state budget. It’s anti-child, anti-family, anti-worker.
This is a 🧵 outlining some initial takeaways.
Today, @ElectMattDolan talked about "investing in the needs, not the wants" in this budget. He said, "We have to look at what’s effective."
I agree with prioritizing the needs of our state and of Ohioans. That is not what's reflected in this budget.

Referring to the Ohio Senate's proposed budget, @MLCoreyHSC, executive director of the Human Service Chamber of Franklin County said, “This benefits nobody. This hurts millions. This doesn’t make any sense. Send this back and do better.”
“This budget is a mistake. Fix it,” Corey said. “Ohioans in our economy can’t realize their potential if our workers, our people can’t get childcare, can’t eat, can’t get health care and can’t get a place to live.”

We all deserve to get enough to eat and get the medical care we need. The Senate leadership's proposed budget takes that away from people and will make children, adults, and families less secure.
A quick 🧵 on the Senate sub-bill released earlier today.
The proposal will make it harder for our neighbors to get the food and healthcare assistance they need. It would add new barriers that will remove people from participating in critical public economic security programs, including SNAP and Medicaid.
