I turned 30 today!

For the last 5 years, I've tracked major life lessons that are easy for me to forget in a notes doc. I shared these today @orbitalnyc Show & Tell, and thought I'd share them here too: 1) Don't attend events where there are mostly people you don't want to know.

For our class this year, @garychou and I asked our students to immerse themselves in a community and then try to create and share a small offering—a community-centered approach to design rather than solutionism. Here's what they learned: "Because I followed the list [of questions] so closely, afraid of silent gaps in conversation, we weren’t able to enjoy the fun parts of interview." - @XiaoxiYuan_Lulu realized that interviews go better when they feel like casual conversations.
