Last month, Li Qiang from China Labor Watch told VOA News that PT GNI framed the labor strike as an anti-China movement and gave the Chinese workers steel sticks and other tools to guard the facility. He said GNI also held the Chinese workers' paychecks as a means of control.
Some workers hadn't received their paychecks for three to five months.

I went to a Christian school in Jakarta where most students were ethnic Chinese. Teachers told us we shouldn't celebrate Chinese New Year because it was un-Christian (not all students were Christians). If we skipped school on CNY, we'd get F grade for Christian subject class...
