You know, we often see the sacrifices our immigrant parents made/make but we don’t really understand it in its totality.

Let me tell you how visiting Africa humbled me as an American born Haitian woman.

This can help us as Americans to open our eyes & humble ourselves⬇️ From seeing people slaughtering goat on the street, mobilization of businesses on dirt roads within extreme slums & these amazing people having the willpower to still do life is impressive & humbling.

Us Americans can be self-centered that we don’t consider other realities.

I remember when God told me my Uber driver was about to take her life after she dropped me off to church. He began telling me about her life & showing me so many things.

She was smiling & looked normal. I didn’t quite understand. But I trusted the voice of God & my gift. Ironically, she was taking me to church for a prayer service. So I told myself, “I’ll just pray at church for her”

God said, “Yola, pray for her as soon as you arrive. Pray for her and hug her.”

I’m debating so much & thinking about my potential embarrassment over HER LIFE!

“I’m pregnant?”

I questioned as sweat coated my palms in nervousness staring at my former OBGYN as he glanced at the grayscale screen that displayed my baby in my uterus.

A child. That was ALIVE. That was not a clump of cells.

A THREAD for post-abortive women⬇️ I wanted to be that Christian that didn’t just yell at women saying “ABORTION IS A SIN. YOU ARE A MURDERER” without considering circumstances & I wanted to PROCESS myself first before just dumping everything on people because “I have a platform”. I strategized with God + prayed.

It’s my desire for the church to stop negating the importance of bridging the gap with African-Americans and years of trauma and becoming an affirmative resource for black people.

We NEED HELP and not just praise breaks all the time. We need to understand the importance of actually doing REAL work in our communities instead of regurgitated hot breath preaching events about “mantles & miracles” and ACTUALLY meet needs’.

The church should be the thermostat when it comes to mobilizing change for injustice.

My theory on revival as I study deeper:

Revival and awakening cannot just be our end goals but we should desire to see them as FRUIT of our end goal which is Jesus ultimately.

For too long we’ve preached revival + awakening as destinations when they are just signs + evidence. With subs-conscious thoughts of revival + awakening without true understanding that they are just the evidence, this has made room for people to creep in with dogmatic interpretations with no accountability + consideration sound teaching and people fully submitting to Jesus.

Shoutout to @MauriceChatman_ and @NaomiLoren_

As Naomi best friend, I’ve witnessed them behind closed doors, she’s private but that man truly is a MAN ON SOCIAL MEDIA AND OFF SOCIAL MEDIA. I’ve seen them in several cases and this man truly honors, loves, and covers Naomi frfr. It’s not even how he treats Naomi, it’s how he treats the people Naomi loves too. Naomi + Maurice have such a unique relationship and they truly get dirty and BUILD together.

This isn’t a facade. Christ is truly center in their relationship and he’s not phased by her influence

“Yola any man would be blessed to have you”

This usually comes from people who know “Yola Marj” and not Yola herself. You never saw me mad or hungry.

Outside of the preacher, intercessor, & great things I do, I am also a person. I want to be someone’s wife, not just a trophy. Let’s not qualify powerful women of God for wifehood because of their attributes + gifts.

Women deserved to be loved for who they are outside of that. You like what you see on social media and the image they display but what about her as a woman? Do you know about her character?

Derrick Jaxn’s wife, is clearly overly zealous & is making innocent mistakes by using Jesus as a sticker to her unprocessed trauma.

Her appearance is the damage church culture has created. We have unrealistic expectations for women that disregards embracing who we really are. Anyone with discerning of spirits can see it all w/o even knowing her story.

When women get saved, there’s this false sense of pressure to assimilate women in a facade of “womanhood” ignoring their stories’ and empowering to heal & to be who they are to glorify God.

Example:

Friday night, I was contemplating suicide. I was suffering deep depression & didn’t want to tell anyone.

After processing, I was led by God to share my truth on IG live & deliverance, healing, and prophecy was flowing like nobody’s business.

& People’s lives were saved. Wow On my live, I explained how church culture & social media culture has validates lives of facades and everyone building everything to the point we’re desensitized to people’s pains. Nowadays we don’t even care about who’s around us because we’re caught up in a performative matrix.
