We have people fighting for their lives on ventilators. Some of them will never wake up. Many are young. They have families. Children. People who love them.
Those who are really in trouble have not been vaccinated. Some will die.

I can’t tell you how difficult it is for us to watch people come in fighting for breath, not knowing when it will be their last. Watching them FaceTime their families before we put them on a ventilator. Knowing the awful truth that this could have been prevented with a vaccine.
We have also had patients who are vaccinated end up in critical care. They are few and far between. But they have all made it. The vaccine means you don’t get as seriously unwell with COVID of you catch it. They almost certainly would have died without it.
I can’t believe I’m tweeting this. As an ICU doctor who has given everything they have trying to save lives this makes me want to cry.
