The REGEXT working group in @ietf is still pushing forward on standardizing third-party verification providers, seriously harming privacy and other human rights.
There have been complaints about @VERISIGN pushing this standards since 2016 !

It shows that Internet standards bodies are inherently unable to take the public interest into account.
The public interest only gets upheld or inscribed if it aligns with corporate interests.
This is the infrastructural tragedy of how the current transnational Internet governance regime is undermining and cannibalizing itself by causing regulation and fragmentation.
