Thoughts on end of session (1/ 10): #mnleg has taken good steps toward helping people afford their lives and live with dignity and respect.

(2/10) The AGO worked hard with @GovTimWalz and legislators of both parties to win new tools to fight wage theft & the opioid crisis, protect our money held in HMOs’ charitable assets (#ThatsOurMoney), regulate PBMs, and protect against elder abuse.

(3/10) It’s an esp big win for fighting wage theft. Lots of folks still don’t believe it happens but it’s real, hurts all of us & is a crime. I wrote more about it here: advocate.stpaulunions.org/2019/04/25/kei…

(4/10) Low-income folks supporting their families with the help of MFIP will also get their first raise in 33 years. Special congrats to @LtGovFlanagan for that big win. All these changes will make a real, positive difference in the daily lives and wallets of Minnesotans.

(5/10) Also proud the AGO budget will see first increase in actual dollars in 6 yrs. It isn’t all the $ we asked for or need to protect Minnesotans, but it’s an important step forward. Grateful to @GovTimWalz, Commissioner @myronfrans & the House for supporting our full request.

(6/10) More about the need to beef up the AGO budget, which is way down in purchasing power over many years: startribune.com/state-ag-s-off…

(7/10) But urgent needs have been left unaddressed, esp life-or-death crisis of pharmaceutical-drug affordability, including insulin. Disappointed Senate didn’t address it more fully, despite hard work of #insulin4all activists & good will of several GOP senators.

(8/10) Ppl also needed Senate to pass #Freedom2Drive, ban on conversion therapy, post-conviction relief, probation & felon-voting reforms. #mnleg also needs to do more to make sure public’s money in HMOs’ charitable assets stays in MN and works solely for our health.

(9/10) More about why this hard-to-understand but v important issue matters to everyone. To sum it up: #ThatsOurMoney startribune.com/prevent-raids-…

(10/10) Thx 2 @GovTimWalz and legislators of both parties who engaged with & listened to my office and me. We didn’t always agree or get everything we needed. Still, Minnesotans are better able to afford their lives and live with dignity and respect today than they were before.
